ODE | State of Ohio School Bus Driver Appreciation Day 2022

Monday, May 2nd, 2022, is Ohio’s School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.

The Office of Pupil Transportation would like to say THANK YOU to all school bus drivers for the outstanding work you do every day in safely transporting Ohio’s students to and from school and special events!

It is so very important that families are able to count on you to get their children to and from school safely and on time each and every day.

For many students, the bus driver is often the first (and last) school staff member they see each day.

You use this opportunity to build connections with your students and families and to set a positive tone for each child’s day. Your actions do more than continue the tradition of professionalism and excellence that has distinguished our profession over the years.

You also provide a much-needed element of consistency and security at a time when many families face challenges and uncertainty.

Last weekend, several bus drivers competed in the regional ROAD-E-O to show off their driving skills to their fellow bus driver friends. The Northeast Region hosted 49 competitors!

The drivers that placed in the top 6 will have the opportunity to compete in the State ROAD-E-O on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Westland High School (South-Western City School District) with this year’s theme being “Flashback.”

For every parent who smiles and waves to you each morning and afternoon, there are unseen dozens more who appreciate and count on you every day.

We join them in extending our sincere gratitude and our very best wishes this and every day!

We thank Ohio’s school bus drivers and transportation professionals for the many ways they shape each student’s learning journey daily.

Thank you for your commitment to student safety,

Office of Pupil Transportation
