šŸš€Ā Rocket Updates – 13 JAN 2023

Good afternoon and happy Friday!

I hope everyone is enjoying the snow today instead of the dreary rain and mud from the past couple of days. I am sure all of our friends and family who like to ski or snowboard are excited about the current weather.

Last night at the board of education meeting, we elected a new president and vice president for the next calendar year. Congratulations to President Tracy Campbell and Vice President Kristin Bedford, our first female duo to lead the district! If you have time, please reach out to the two of them and the rest of the board and thank them for their time and commitment to our students and community.

Being a school board member is often a thankless job and I personally know our five board members love this community and district and work hard every day to make it a better place for students to learn. Thank you board members!

During this long weekend our student athletes are hard at work competing at various schools and tournaments. If you are looking for something to do with your family this weekend, I would encourage you to attend one of these athletic events.

Here is a list of athletic events happening this weekend:

  • Friday, January 13th
    • Varsity Boys Wrestling Away at Alliance Top Gun Tournament 10:00 am
    • Junior Varsity Boys Basketball at Ravenna 5:30
    • Varsity Boys Basketball at Ravenna 7:00
  • Saturday, January 14th
    • Freshman Boys Basketball home vs. Hudson 10:00 am
    • Middle School Wrestling Away Woodridge Duals 10:00 am
    • Varsity Boys Wrestling Away at Alliance Top Gun Tournament 10:00 am
    • Varsity Girls Basketball Away Chippewa HS 2:00
  • Monday, January 16th
    • Varsity Girls Basketball Away Millersburg The Classic in the Country 12:00

Good luck to all of our student athletes as they represent Streetsboro!

Finally, I wanted to thank all of our district parents for your support as our staff used today as a district collaboration day. This day is very important to the staff and I observed our teachers using this time today in a very productive way.

Having time to analyze student performance data is extremely important and will help focus staff on areas we need to improve. At the next board of education meeting, Mr. Ile will review a summary of the activities completed today by staff.

It is my sincere hope that everyone enjoys the long weekend and takes time to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Junior on Monday. His leadership and impact on our society can still be felt today and it is important to acknowledge his accomplishments. Have a safe weekend and Go Rockets!

Sincerely,

R. Michael Daulbaugh
