🚀 Rocket Updates – 31 MAY 2022

Good afternoon and welcome to the summer recess!

While I have heard many students, staff and parents claim this was a very long year, most also agree it sure did fly by. We all faced many challenges this year and I couldn’t be happier as to how all of you stepped up to the challenge. One could argue that, due to the hard work of everyone, our students enjoyed a better than average school year.

While it looks like COVID will live with us in some shape or form for the foreseeable future, I am confident that our students, staff and community will continue to rise to the challenge and not allow some “virus” to stop us. Well done!

As the year concludes, it is important to note that all of the school building offices will be closed by the end of next week, except the high school which will remain open until June 23. Building offices will not reopen until the first week in August.

This is so our staff members can take a much needed break and our operations team will begin the work to beautify our buildings so they are ready for instruction in the fall. Also, most of our building staff members will not have access to their email until August when everyone begins to return to school.

It would be appropriate for me to mention the board of education office will be closed for three to four weeks beginning Monday, Jun 6, 2022 for a much needed “refresh”. Using Permanent Improvement dollars (not General Fund dollars), the board office will undergo a complete HVAC replacement as well as a paint refresh and carpet cleaning.

While this project is occurring, the board office staff will maintain the same phone numbers and email addresses and will be temporarily housed at the Streetsboro Annex.

Finally Amanda Hall, our Director of Transportation asked me to pass along this very important information regarding bus routes for the next school year:

Please be sure to fill out your transportation needs for the 2022-2023 school year in Final Forms. Our routing software feeds directly from Final Forms so if your students require morning or afternoon (or both) transportation or alternate transportation you will need to fill out the transportation section in Final Forms.

If you do not require transportation at this time, that’s okay too! Just be sure to update Final Forms if anything changes.

We anticipate having the routes ready by the first week of August. Look for communication from the transportation office via email and blast call then.

It is my hope that each and every one of you have a safe and relaxing summer vacation. Rest up and play hard and enjoy your family time. Something I personally learned this year is that we should never take for granted the time we have with our loved ones and friends.

Also, tweet your summer adventures using the hashtag #scssummeradventures so that we can see all the fun our Rocket families are having this summer.

Have a super summer break and Go Rockets!

Sincerely,

Mike Daulbaugh
