🚀 Rocket Updates – April 2nd, 2021

Good afternoon Rocket Families!

I hope this message finds you well and staying warm on such a cold and blustery day. Hopefully this is the last of the snow for the season. I for one am tired of it!

I am excited to report that yesterday marked the day of immunity from COVID-19 for those staff members who received the vaccine. I know all of us are breathing a sigh of relief and are ready to get to some sort of normalcy in our lives. This also takes us one step closer to returning to what I hope to be a normal school year.

I am encouraged that as more of our population gets vaccinated, we will be able to lift all of our restrictions that are in place.

Until then, unfortunately we all still need to be diligent with our safety measures as it looks like there is a spike in cases occurring. We can beat this pandemic if we all work together and continue our safety measures and get vaccinated. I want this for all of our students, staff and the community!

Wouldn’t it be great to fill district events again with students, parents and community members?

On another note, since the Ohio Department of Education is mandating state testing this spring, we will continue with our normal schedule that is in place at all buildings. We will have to use our asynchronous day (Wednesday) in order to bring in all of our students who are learning online to physically take the test. There is not an option for these students to take the State assessments at home.

It is our hope that we can complete all of this testing by the end of April so that we can return to five days of instruction for the month of May. Only the high school will remain on its current schedule through the remainder of the school year.

Your child’s building principal will be communicating with all of you regarding the testing schedules in each building. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we move forward with testing and our current schedule.

Finally, I would like to remind you that Monday 4/5 is a scheduled school holiday.

Students will return to school on Tuesday of next week and will continue to follow the same schedule we are on currently with Wednesday being an asynchronous day.

I hope everyone enjoys this short holiday break and gets to spend some quality time with your family.

Be safe and Go Rockets!
