🚀 Rocket Updates – December 3, 2021

Happy December!

Hopefully you have adjusted to the time change and early onset of nighttime. This may be the most wonderful time of the year, but it also seems to be the busiest!

This Saturday, December 4, the PTA will be hosting their annual Holiday Connection at the Middle School from 11am-2pm.

Students will be able to shop for family members with an “elf” helper, there will be vendors for parents to shop, concessions, hot cocoa or coffee and of course pictures with Santa.

PTA volunteers have spent numerous hours preparing for this event to ensure it is a fun time for all. Please plan to attend!

Many of you have been affected by recent bus route cancellations. We realize this is frustrating and an inconvenience. We truly appreciate your patience and flexibility during this time of uncertainty.

Our transportation department is working on changes to bus routes in order to help address staff shortages and limit the number of bus cancellations. These changes will begin after winter break when we return in January.

Families will receive updates regarding changes to their student’s transportation information prior to winter break. We have created a “transportation alerts” page on the website to help families get needed information quickly. You can access that information here.

As you are likely aware, many school districts in Ohio are experiencing dramatic staffing shortages. Our goal is to have students in school everyday for face to face instruction. We are actively working on strategies to help ensure that our students remain in the classroom and experience a quality education with as normal of a school year as possible.

Unfortunately, staffing shortages sometimes make face to face instruction impossible and a remote learning day is necessary. We understand the impact that this has on our families and will continue to provide as much advance notice as possible when these situations arise.

The impact of Covid on our personal lives, work lives and community continues to take its toll.

Lastly, I would like to bring awareness to the work being done by The Streetsboro Educational Foundation.

This community group awards scholarships and grants to students and teachers in Streetsboro City Schools. Over the past several years, the Foundation has provided monies that have enhanced Streetsboro arts and academic opportunities. You can find out more information about the Foundation and how they support Streetsboro students, or make a donation here.

I wish you all health and happiness and appreciate your support as we make changes at the District level to address the challenges that pandemic life brings.

Have a wonderful weekend,
