Good evening and happy Friday!
I hope this email finds all of you well and ready for what looks to be a significant cold spell for the next several days. Personally, I would take snow over the subzero cold, but I guess we have to take what we get living in Northeast Ohio!
Last week following the Board of Education meeting, I sent out a parent feedback survey regarding our current learning models in the district. I would like to thank everyone who took time to provide feedback.
Over 460 people responded to the survey! If you would like the opportunity to take the survey, the link is included below. This survey will no longer be active after Sunday.
I plan to share the results of this survey at the Board of Education meeting this coming Thursday when we intend to make a decision regarding the learning models in our district.
In addition to the survey data provided by our community, staff will be surveyed this weekend in order to get their feedback on the learning models. I plan to include this data in my presentation to the Board of Education on Thursday.
Input from staff will be an important component when analyzing how best to instruct our students.
Our goal continues to be to get our students back in school safely five days a week. The challenges presented at the Board of Education meeting last Friday along with the data collected in these surveys will help us determine whether or not it is feasible to return our students to the classroom five days a week.
This information is vital, so once again, thank you for providing your feedback.
On another note, we almost have the date secured to host our staff vaccination clinic. It appears that Governor DeWine has prioritized the allocations of the vaccine for education staff and it looks like education staff in Streetsboro will be vaccinated sometime during the fourth week in February.
This is exciting news and should provide all of us hope that a return to “normalcy” is on the horizon. As I receive more information, I will certainly keep everyone informed.
Attached here, is a brochure regarding free COVID testing available to anyone. This testing will occur at the Midway Drive-in in Ravenna and begins this Saturday, February 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The free testing will continue through May 1, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
If you or a loved one were exposed to someone with COVID or you are experiencing symptoms of COVID, feel free to use this free resource in Ravenna. You will receive your results in one to two days. While registration is not required, if you use the barcode on the flyer to register prior to your arrival, the process will be much quicker for you.
Finally, I would like to encourage you to check out the free mental health resources available to you on the Mental Health and Recovery Board Website.
The pandemic has taken its toll on all of us and these resources could prove valuable to you and your loved ones. Please take some time to look at this website: https://www.mental-health-recovery.org/
I sincerely hope everyone stays healthy and has some time to unwind this weekend. Please remember to wear your mask, socially distance and don’t gather in large crowds.
Our actions outside of school will keep our kids in school. Thank you for your continued support and Go Rockets!
