Rocket Updates – January 15th, 2021

Good evening Rocket Families!

I hope this email finds you well and ready for a long weekend. Our second week of remote learning was a success and once again I heard many great things about the creativity of our staff and efforts put forth by our students. Well done!

⭐ Please remember we will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 19th, across the district.

Kindergarten through grade eight, we will run a hybrid schedule with Group A students attending on Tuesday while Group B students learn at home synchronously. On Thursday and Friday of next week Group B will attend in person while Group A students attend synchronously from home. On Wednesday both Group A and Group B students will work at home.

At the high school, all students will attend school on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week. Wednesday will continue to be a day where all students will be expected to follow their schedules from home.

Preschool students will resume face to face instruction on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week. Wednesdays will continue to be “off” days for preschool students.

✅ Remember, all students are expected to follow the schedules developed at each building.

Attendance is required whether you are in person or at home learning synchronously. Building principals will communicate with families this weekend to remind everyone of the schedule moving forward and learning expectations while at home.

On a different note, I would like to congratulate Mrs. Denise Baba for being elected as board President and Mr. Brian Violi being elected as board Vice President. Both Mrs. Baba and Mr. Violi bring years of experience to these leadership positions and I look forward to working with each of them. I would also like to thank Mr. Grimm for his leadership as board President this past year.

It was a pleasure working with him throughout one of the most difficult times in recent history. All of our board members are outstanding and have dedicated their time to helping me navigate this pandemic. In February, we will formally recognize all of them for their efforts. Thank you board of education members!

Finally, as we move to in person learning next week, please be vigilant with your safety protocols when not in school. Keeping students and staff safe outside of school will be the key to keeping us in school. I know personally that we can get a bit fatigued and let our guard down.

😷 Please emphasize mask wearing, good hand hygiene, social distancing, and do not gather in large groups.

I am hopeful we can keep our kids and staff in school and, with the vaccine on the way, maybe have somewhat of a normal spring!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend and I look forward to seeing students back in buildings next week. Go Rockets!

Sincerely,

R. Michael Daulbaugh
Superintendent
Streetsboro City Schools
