I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the cooler temperatures. I have personally been excited about the lack of accumulating precipitation (i.e the fluffy white stuff) and wonder how long we can enjoy comfortable temperatures.
Last week, I shared the “Staff Spotlight” on our district website. Hopefully you had an opportunity to take a look at the highlighted individuals. We have many wonderful people serving our students and will be updating the Spotlight weekly. You can check out this week’s highlights here: https://www.scsrockets.org/c/spotlight/
Thank you also for your flexibility with unexpected bus changes and remote days. Yesterday at the Board Meeting, Mrs. Hall, our District Transportation Supervisor, shared a plan to help address the busing shortages. We will continue to communicate updates in advance of any changes with all of you. You can see that portion of the meeting here: https://youtu.be/5ymAxE2Njzk?t=2327
The district team is also reviewing options to help address staffing shortages in other key areas of the district as well. Again, we will communicate information in advance of any changes. It is likely that while we won’t be able to solve the staffing shortages, we are actively looking for solutions that will help limit the impact on our students, staff and families.
Akron Children’s Hospital is working in partnership with Streetsboro City Schools and Crestwood Schools to offer covid vaccinations for students age 5-11. The first vaccine dose is November 16th with the second dose scheduled December 14th. You can access additional information as well as registration forms through our district webpage, here: https://www.scsrockets.org/scs-covid-vaccine-clinic-information/
Finally, mark your calendars for the PTA’s Holiday Connection which will be held at Streetsboro Middle School from 11-2pm on December 4th. The PTA website has additional information about this event.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Director of Student Services
