Good afternoon! It is hard to believe that it is the first day of October. I hope that you are enjoying the change of seasons and have some fun activities scheduled for this weekend.
This time of year always means there is a lot going on in the schools and next week is no exception. Here are a few highlights:
- Parent Teacher Conferences are being held for each building next week- please check the building newsletters for details on how to sign up for a time.
- The Homecoming game is next Friday, October 8th. Each building is getting in on the action with spirit days – so be prepared with your blue and gold gear!
- It’s picture time for SES and Defer students.
- World Food Day Collections are scheduled at the Middle School and Streetsboro Elementary.
With all that is going on, the long-weekend will be well-deserved for students. Don’t forget that there is NO school scheduled for students on Friday, October 8th (NEOEA Day) and Monday, October 11th (Teacher Professional Development Day).
By now, you have heard the update from the transportation department regarding bus driver shortages. While we will do everything to prevent cancelling a bus route for the day, we wanted to communicate this possibility so that families have time to create a back-up plan. Nationwide, there are shortages in a variety of occupations. Local school districts are experiencing the same issues.
We are looking for good people to join us as substitute teachers, tutors, aides and bus drivers. If you know of anyone that might be a good fit please encourage them to apply online.

On November 2nd, Streetsboro City Schools will have a levy on the ballot. This is a renewal of a levy already in place and will allow the district to continue to provide services for students at the current levels. This is not a levy for new tax dollars. More information will be coming as we move closer to November. To learn more about issue 26, a levy FAQ page is now available online at our SCS website. You may read the official ballot language here from Portage County Board of Elections.
Have a wonderful weekend and GO Rockets!
