🚀 Rocket Updates – October 15, 2021

Streetsboro Families,

Today marks the end of the first grading period. Students have had a strong start to the school year and have been enjoying all that Streetsboro Schools have to offer. Teachers are finalizing grades over the next few days and report cards will be issued next week.

As a reminder you can also check the HAC (Home Access Center) for updates on your child’s grades. Information on accessing this program was sent home earlier in the school year. If you need help you can contact your child’s school for assistance.

The first quarter of school was full of events, and there will be more to enjoy in the upcoming weeks. Here are a few highlights to be aware of:

This evening our Choir students from the Middle School and High School will be performing at the High School Auditorium. The show begins promptly at 7:00. In addition to their Friday night halftime performance, our Marching Band will also have a performance this Wednesday at 7:00 in the stadium.

Our fall sports teams are finishing strong with several of our teams participating in the MAC tournaments or the first round of OHSAA tournaments this week.

This Wednesday, our Middle School is participating in a planned safety drill in conjunction with the Streetsboro Police and Fire Departments. This drill fulfills requirements from the State of Ohio. We wanted families to be aware in advance as you may see extra police or fire department vehicles on campus that day.

Moving forward, you may also notice an increase police and fire department presence at the schools. Our schools are participating in a county-wide initiative; Handle with Care.

This program is intended to help support students who may have experienced traumatic events such as a car accident by increasing collaboration between first responders and the schools. Another key component is fostering positive relationships between first responders and students. We are fortunate in our city to have amazing police and fire men and women who are interested in being more active within our schools; we look forward to having them join us!

Next Thursday and Friday, our 3rd grade students will be participating in AIR state testing. Breakfast on these days will be provided to the third graders prior to the testing session beginning.

Friday, 10/22, we will be hosting a district Job Fair ( to help address shortages in several key areas across the district. Please spread the word to anyone you know who may be interested.

And looking forward to November…

Akron Children’s Hospital will be offering covid vaccines to interested families from Streetsboro and Crestwood Schools. Information with date, time and location will be shared in an upcoming letter in case you are interested in participating.

Our HS students are sponsoring a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross. Not only does this drive help support those with medical needs- it also supports our Streetsboro students through Scholarship opportunities. This year’s blood drive will be November 3rd from 8-1 at the High School.

November 2nd is election day. Issue 26 is a 5.1 renewal levy and will not result in a tax increase. This levy will continue to generate $178.50 in property taxes for every $100,000 in property value. The district webpage has a FAQ link for additional information. You can also submit a question through the FAQ if you would like additional information, here:

Henry Defer Intermediate will be hosting a Curriculum Night for their families on November 3rd. See this link for additional information.

There is a lot going on in the district and we are proud of our start to the year. On behalf of the Streetsboro Staff I want to thank you for your continued support.

Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Rockets!
