Rotary Club of Aurora, OH Teams Up with SMS NJHS Members for Tree Planting and Mulching

AURORA, OH – On Saturday, May 6, 2023, the Rotary Club of Aurora joined forces with eight newly inducted members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) from Streetsboro Middle School to volunteer their time and effort for a good cause.

Gabby Salyer, Connor Cottrell, Sophia Jeffrey, Alice King, Kylie Stump, Ethan Hart, Kate Maxwell and Kaylee Roberts, Fynlee Curran, Briana laRupe-Jones, and MyRyah McIntosh registered for their service hours with the Aurora Tree Museum and assisted with mulching and planting trees. The Tree Museum is located on Townline Road in Aurora’s Hartman Park.

The Rotary Club of Aurora is known for its commitment to serving the community, and partnering with NJHS members for this project was a natural fit. The Tree Museum is an important community asset, providing a beautiful green space for residents to enjoy. The volunteers worked hard to mulch and plant trees, ensuring the area remains healthy and vibrant for years to come.

In addition to their efforts at the Tree Museum, Streetsboro Middle School NJHS is sponsoring a “Penny War” to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and to support one of SMS’s own, Mrs. McNicholas! The winning class will get a popsicle party, and a donation will be presented to Mrs. McNicholas as well. The Penny War will run until May 15.

This project demonstrates the dedication of both the Rotary Club of Aurora and Streetsboro Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society members to improving the community and helping those in need.

By coming together and donating their time and resources, they are positively impacting the local environment and supporting a worthy cause.
