Dear Students and Families of the Streetsboro City School District:

Last night the Board of Education voted to place a 9 mill operating levy on the ballot in May.  If approved by voters, this levy will generate approximately $4,419,998 and cost the homeowner of a $100,000 dollar home approximately $315.00 dollars per year ($26.25 per month).  Even if this levy is approved by voters, we will still have to cut approximately $600,000 a year from our budget in order to keep a positive balance, as required by state law.

Over the past several weeks, CJ Scarcipino (District CFO), administration and myself have worked to develop a menu of items that can potentially be reduced from the budget. This list, when finalized and approved by the board, will be released to the public. If the May levy is not approved, the District  will use this menu to reduce approximately $1.3 million dollars or more from the budget. This will have to be done to ensure the District does not finish the 2019-2020 fiscal year with a negative cash balance.

To see the full list of possible items to reduce or cut, visit our website, here: https://www.scsrockets.org/scs-items-for-possible-reduction-based-on-levy-millage/

Please know as we move forward to identify cuts using this menu, our goal will be to make the least impact on the classroom and opportunities for our students. It is not an inclusive list of everything that could be cut. Should you have any questions regarding this menu or other questions regarding the district finances, please contact the board office or use the link on the website to submit your question, here: https://www.scsrockets.org/scs/about/district-finances/

Thank you for your continued support of our school district, staff and students.  Remember, we work best when we work together.

Thanks,

R. Michael Daulbaugh, Superintendent
