Dear Streetsboro families,
I would like to take this time to wholeheartedly thank everyone for supporting our 9 mill operating levy. This was a huge decision that not only benefits our students but our community as a whole. Preserving strong schools equals a strong community!
However we will not take this decision to support our students lightly. It is our goal to continue to be responsible stewards of your tax dollars. With the passage of this levy we will continue to offer quality programs for students while critically analyzing costs at every step. It is our goal to help make this levy last as long as we can!
We acknowledge we have a lot of work to do in order to keep our district moving forward. We have many initiatives in place that I believe will help address the gaps in student achievement. Our teachers and staff have worked hard to identify these gaps and have begun to put plans in the place to address these gaps. Our district vision states, “By 2023, all students in the Streetsboro City School District will demonstrate at least one year of academic growth annually.” I am confident with these changes being made in combination with all of the other curricular changes, we will continue to improve our academic performance and meet our stated vision for the district.
Finally, one common theme we heard throughout the year was the need for better communication. This is not only a goal on our strategic plan, it is a topic we plan to attack next. In the fall we plan to form a “communications task force” in order to find ways to better get our message out. We have great kids, staff and programs and we need to showcase these success stories.
Once again, thank you for supporting our students and community and Go Rockets!
R. Michael Daulbaugh, Superintendent
Streetsboro City School District
