Streetsboro City Schools provides special education and public preschool programming for the families in the Streetsboro City School District. Children enrolled are taught using the AEPS curriculum which is aligned with the State of Ohio’s pre-Kindergarten Content Standards.
- Call office to register for Information and Screening Session on Friday, February 22nd at 9:30 am or 1:30 pm
- Registration info will be reviewed at these sessions.
- Registration materials should be turned in to the Streetsboro Elementary School office, February 25th – March 1st, 9am to 2pm, to be considered for the 2019/2020 preschool program.
Who attends Streetsboro’s Preschool?
Preschooler with a Disability
A child between the ages of three and five who demonstrate delays in one or more areas of development during the screening process. Areas of delay include communication, motor, social/emotional/behavior, adaptive, cognitive and visual/hearing impairments.
Peer Role Model
A child between the ages of three and five who does NOT have special needs can apply to the program as a peer role model. Peer role models must be 3 years of age and demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Age-appropriate behavior
- Interacts well with other children
- Easily separates from parent
- Strong communication skills
If my child demonstrates these characteristics, how do I enroll him as a role model in the program?
Interested families need to call the Streetsboro Elementary office to schedule a screening time for Friday, February 22nd at either 9:30 or 1:30. Our teachers will meet with the children in a preschool classroom and parents will meet with the principal. It is important that both parent and child attend the session. Registration packets will be distributed at the meeting.
What if we are not able to attend the Information and Screening Session?
Meeting with the child is important for our preschool team. We are limited to the number of role models we can place in each classroom. Your child’s attendance at the session is mandatory to be considered for our program.
When do students attend Preschool?
Times may change for 2019-2020 school year. Students attend preschool Monday – Thursday for 2 ½ hours each day.
- Morning: 8:25 – 11:15 AM
- Afternoon: 12:30 – 2:50 PM
Is there transportation available for students?
Busing will be provided for preschoolers with disabilities only. Busing may be available for role model peers. More information to follow.
What is the next step in enrolling in the program?
Submit the registration materials to the office during the week, February 25th – March 1st, 9am to 2pm only. As registration materials are turned in they will be numbered and qualifying applicants will be placed into an electronic lottery.
All paperwork must be completed to be placed in to the lottery. We have limited availability for our peer role models. If spots are filled, we will keep registrations on file and students will be on a waiting list.
