Streetsboro City Schools Hosts Dynamic Professional Development Day

Streetsboro, OH – Streetsboro High School was abuzz with activity and enthusiasm on Friday, 2/16/2024, as staff from across the school district came together for a comprehensive Professional Development Day.

Organized by Andreas Johansson, Director of Operations, and Dan Stitzel, the district’s Technology Integration Coach, this event was a melting pot of educators, support staff, and distinguished guests, all gathered with a common goal: to learn, share, and grow professionally.

The day was marked by a series (35+) of engaging breakout sessions, covering various topics tailored to the modern educational landscape. Sessions included cutting-edge themes such as “Hipster Google,” “AI in Education: How Teachers Can Leverage AI in the Classroom,” and “Introduction to Emotional Intelligence,” among others.

These workshops were designed to equip our staff with the knowledge and tools to foster an innovative learning environment and prepare our students for future success.

The event saw an impressive turnout, with teachers, administrators, bus drivers, custodians, classroom aides, and food service personnel joining forces with vendors, presenters from various school districts, educational service centers, and professional keynote speakers.

This diverse gathering underscored our district’s commitment to comprehensive educational excellence and collaborative growth.

Our day started on a high note with a delightful breakfast from Panera, generously sponsored by Aramsco, and thoughtfully hosted by Y.A. Yorkovich and Adrienne Sidoti. Yorkovich shared, “This was a lot of fun this morning, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with you guys.”

The energy and positivity from the morning carried through to a delicious lunch provided by Blasiole’s, with special thanks to our HVAC service partner, Gardiner, and hosts Jake Kuhn and Jeff Covert for their unwavering support.

Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to explore the practical applications of AI, emotional intelligence, and other essential skills.

Comments such as “The idea that we are all learners and it’s ok not to know,” and “A great review of the available tools in the A.I. world,” reflected the day’s inspiring and supportive atmosphere.

The Streetsboro City Schools Professional Development Day was more than just an event; it was a testament to our district’s dedication to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

We sincerely thank all participants, sponsors, and organizers for making this day possible and profoundly impactful.
