Streetsboro City Schools provides special education and public preschool programming for the families in the Streetsboro City School District. Children enrolled are taught using the AEPS curriculum which is aligned with the State of Ohio’s pre-Kindergarten Content Standards. Does your child qualify as a peer role model? Learn more here.
Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present. This state encompasses observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad. To live mindfully is to live in the moment and reawaken oneself to the present, rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. Get a special education teacher, with a coaching background and a knack for forming connections with individual students, to teach an Advanced Placement course and the results can be surprising.
Last week, the Streetsboro Board of Education gave an unofficial nod to middle school counselor Monica Holzapfel to continue training her 11-month old black Labrador retriever Piper to be a therapy dog for students. Holzapfel wanted the board’s support so that she could apply for two grants for school-based therapy dog training.
Since May, several staff members like Myers have become loyal customers of the Rocket Coffee Shop, a new self-sustaining business run entirely by special education teacher Louise Milton’s students who brew and mix the Starbucks coffee in-house. They also offer tea and hot chocolate and, for only 50 cents more, will add sugar, creamer and special syrups to any drink.
Streetsboro High School seniors should begin applying for local scholarships, as these scholarships have the potential to decrease the cost of their post-secondary plans. From time to time, when Streetsboro City Schools are not in session, like for professional development day on January 6th, 2020, we are still required to provide transportation to our non-public, private, STEM, and vocational schools. Here’s the schedule for January 6th, 2020.
The Streetsboro City School District Board of Education will meet for the purpose of organization on Thursday January 9, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Henry Defer Intermediate School, 1895 Annalane Drive, Streetsboro, Ohio 44241. The Regular scheduled Meeting for January 2020 will immediately follow the Organizational Meeting.
