SCS Report Card

The Streetsboro City Schools received its report card rating on September 15, 2025, and we are proud to once again be recognized by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce as a “4 Star” district. Although the district’s overall rating decreased slightly from 4.5 stars during the 23-24 school year, there were a number of highlights to be celebrated. Most notably, the district increased its Achievement and Graduation ratings to 4 stars. Additionally, SCS features 5 Star ratings in the categories of Progress & Gap Closing, which shows our students significantly exceeded growth expectations. All three eligible schools (HDI, SMS, SHS) received 5 stars in the Progress category, and the district overall had the 16th best Progress score in the entire state of Ohio.

Another area of tremendous success worth celebrating was the work done at Henry Defer Intermediate, which has earned the distinction of being a 5 star school, the first time in district history! Congratulations to the students and staff at HDI on this tremendous achievement! Additionally, both SMS and SES increased their star ratings, with SMS now being rated as a 4.5 star school, and SES moving up to become a 3.5 star. SHS was once again highly rated as a 4 star school during the 24-25 school year.

The district also received two ratings that fell below state standards that will be identified areas of growth for the 2025-26 school year:

  • College, Career, Workforce, Military Readiness (CCWMR): This is the first year for this component on the district report card. Unfortunately, some reporting errors led to a rating that we feel does not represent our student population. We are working with our internal teams to ensure accurate reporting data, as well as examining how we can continue to improve this rating through other measures of this report card.

  • Early Literacy: This category was a more accurate reflection than last year’s because our diagnostic reporting data is the same, unlike last year when we switched those over. We are continuing to work with our early literacy teams to ensure that we see increases in this component. While we did not see an increase in our proficiency in 3rd Grade ELA, there was tremendous growth from fall to spring testing. We have worked very hard to align our instruction with CKLA Knowledge and CKLA Skills, as well as introducing a new phonics intervention program, 95 Percent Group. With a number of our students seeing unprecedented growth in Reading Diagnostics last spring, we are hopeful to see our hard work pay off this year.

It is clear that the Streetsboro City Schools is dedicated to the learning of all kids. We are proud of the work that has been done over the past year. and continue to strive to better ourselves for the 2025-26 school year and beyond.
