Streetsboro High School students gained insights into two distinct career paths this week through the Rocket Career Café Series, meeting with a professional comedian and a marketing director.

On Thursday, students welcomed Dan Brown, a professional comedian and performer who shared his journey into comedy and the skills that helped him build a successful career in entertainment. Brown discussed how he transformed creativity into his profession, offering students a behind-the-scenes look at the comedy industry.

Students who attended the session were eligible to win prizes connected to Brown’s performance at the Streetsboro Performing Arts Center on January 10.

On Friday, Sara Jonas, director of marketing at Team Wendy, spoke with students about strategic marketing careers. Jonas provided insights into college majors related to marketing and discussed how artificial intelligence is reshaping the field.

The Rocket Career Café series brings local professionals to Streetsboro High School every other Friday during the school’s intervention period. The 30-minute sessions allow students in grades nine through 12 to hear directly from professionals across multiple industries and ask them questions directly about their career paths.

"We're proud of our students for showing up, asking thoughtful questions, and exploring new pathways," said Streetsboro High School Principal Patrick Griffis. "SHS continues to create experiences that broaden horizons and spark curiosity—the Rocket way."

The program has many more professionals on the schedule and will run through April 17.
