Streetsboro Elementary School and Henry Defer Intermediate School students will soon have access to expanded before and after school enrichment programming through a new partnership with Right at School, LLC, a national provider operating in schools across the country.
Streetsboro City School District Superintendent Cindy Deevers presented the Board of Education with a proposal at its March 12 meeting to partner with Right at School to bring these programs to the district's youngest learners. Right at School provides students with structured and engaging programming outside of the traditional school day.
Under the agreement, programming will run Monday through Friday before school starting at 6:30 a.m. and after school until 6 p.m. The agreement runs through July 31, 2027, with automatic year-to-year renewal.
This new programming comes at no cost to the district as Right at School collects tuition directly from families and operates as an independent contractor within school facilities. “Since the end of Surround Care, the district had been looking for after school options that would benefit families,” said Streetsboro Superintendent Cindy Deevers. “Right at School programming fills this void, offering quality after school care options for families with no additional costs to the District. We are excited to partner with Right at School to offer these programs to our families.”
The curriculum includes more than 180 STEM-based learning activities spanning science, math, engineering, writing, world cultures and history. Students also participate in fitness programming, arts and music, team games, sports and performance activities, with a strong emphasis on social-emotional development, student leadership and community.
According to Right at School, research shows students in quality afterschool programs demonstrate improved grades, better attendance and stronger social-emotional skills. The company measures student progress using the Search Institute's Developmental Assets Profile, and reports students in its program made measurable gains in positive values, social skills and commitment to learning over the course of a school year.
Families enrolling multiple children, military families and those qualifying for free and reduced lunch will be eligible for tuition discounts. Additional details about enrollment and pricing will be shared with families as the agreement is finalized.
The partnership reflects the district's ongoing commitment to supporting Streetsboro students and families well beyond traditional school hours.
