Streetsboro City Schools welcomed about 40 third-grade families Tuesday evening, September 22, for an informational meeting designed to help parents better understand the Third Grade Reading Guarantee and how they can support their children throughout the school year.

During the meeting, families learned more about Third Grade Reading Guarantee requirements, student progress and what to expect as their children prepare to take the state assessments for the first time. 

Parents also received individual student data reports, providing them with information about their child’s current reading performance and progress.

Third-grade teachers Jessica Baker and Amy Eibler helped prepare the presentation and attended the meeting to provide additional information and support. Following the presentation, they stayed to answer questions from families and help parents better understand their students’ data.

The district received positive feedback from families about the information shared, including positive feedback about their child’s transition to Defer.

The informational meeting was part of the district’s effort to strengthen the partnership between school and home. By providing families with information, individual student data and opportunities to ask questions, the district hopes parents feel equipped to support their children’s reading growth at home while also feeling supported by school staff throughout the process.
