Working closely with the Streetsboro Police Department we were notified early this morning that an individual wearing dark clothes and carrying what appeared to be a long gun was seen on route 303 near the school campus. Based on the information provided and an abundance of caution, the decision was made to close schools for the day. Staff who had already reported for the workday locked down while police searched district facilities and the surrounding areas.
Our first priority remains the safety of our students and staff. We appreciate the actions of the Streetsboro City Police Department and their diligence in keeping our schools and community safe.
The School Resource Officer has been fully briefed and the police department will be providing extra patrol for the school campus. We plan on schools being open tomorrow and will continue to work with the Streetsboro Police Department to monitor the situation.
