Streetsboro City Schools kicked off the holiday season with a festive tradition this week, serving Thanksgiving dinner to students in all four buildings over the course of Thursday November 20 and Friday, November 21. This annual event brings together students, staff and administrators for a holiday meal that highlights community connection, gratitude, and the spirit of the season.
The cafeterias are filled with familiar favorites from a typical Thanksgiving meal. Students enjoy turkey, salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, broccoli, pumpkin mouse dessert, apple crisp and more fun fall treats.
One of the most anticipated parts of the event this year is the return of the district’s celebrity turkey carvers. These celebrity carvers dress for success wearing Thanksgiving aprons, festive hats and sometimes even costumes! Principals, teachers and administrators from across the district step behind the serving line to carve and serve turkey, bringing smiles and laughter as students make their way through the lunch room. The tradition adds a special twist to the celebration giving students a meaningful opportunity to connect with staff outside their usual roles.
This year’s celebrity carvers included Mr. Lee Wepler, Mr. Shannon Kee, Officer Kyle French, Mr. Andrew Jackson, Mr. C.J. Scarcipino, Mr. Jeff Papesh, Mrs. Gwen Abraham, Mrs. Melissa Oyer, Mrs. Michelle Kravetz, Mrs. Taylor Bojc and Mrs. Shimaa Shendy.
We would also like to thank all of our cafeteria staff teammates for cooking a wonderful meal for all to enjoy!
Streetsboro City School District’s Chief Business Officer C.J. Scarcipino said, “We began this tradition in November 2021, as we were coming out of COVID, and it was immediately well received by both staff and students. Each year, participation and excitement continue to grow, with every building’s cafeteria staff adding their own unique spin on Thanksgiving traditions. Our turkey carvers have consistently been the highlight of the event! This is a tradition we’re proud to continue, and it offers a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many reasons we’re thankful to be part of the Streetsboro City School District.”
Streetsboro City Schools is proud to continue this tradition that reinforces the district’s commitment to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel connected and valued. The thanksgiving meal is one small but impactful way the district brings the community together, one plate at a time.
