Streetsboro City Schools will welcome the community to its annual District Art Show on Thursday, April 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SCS Annex Building. The event will showcase student artwork from across the district, representing grades K through 12 and featuring  more than 430 pieces from all four buildings.

The show represents a revival of a beloved district tradition. The Streetsboro Art Show was held annually until the COVID-19 pandemic forced it on hiatus. Art teachers brought it back during the 2025-26 school year and are building on that momentum this spring.

Work on display was not created specifically for this event. “Student work on display will feature art from the entire school year,” said Laura Gessford, Defer Intermediate art teacher, who helped coordinate the show. Artwork was selected by individual teachers based on merit, not submitted by students. Those chosen demonstrated exceptional ability and a strong grasp of specific projects.

Students whose artwork has been selected will receive formal invitations from their art teachers. The show is open to all community members.

Gessford said the event’s meaning goes beyond the artwork itself. “The best part is watching the students share their hard work with family and friends. Parents and grandparents take photos and the joy and pride on our students’ faces makes the whole process so worthwhile.”

The show is organized by the district’s visual arts teachers with facility support from district admin. The Streetsboro District Art Show is free and open to the public, and organizers encourage all community members to come celebrate these young artists.
