The word "neighborhood" appears in dark gray lowercase letters, with "bridges" below it in bold black lowercase letters, and "Streetsboro" in green italic text to the right.

Streetsboro City School District is partnering with Neighborhood Bridges, a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting communities with families in need, to bring the program to Streetsboro beginning May 1.

Neighborhood Bridges works by inviting teachers, counselors, social workers and school administrators to become advocates on behalf of students and families. Through the program’s online platform, school staff can post anonymous requests for needed items. Items range from clothing and sports gear to household essentials such as mattresses and washing machines. The requests are shared with community members who want to help. The program carries no cost to the district.

The district’s CARES Team will serve as program advocates, submitting requests through the neighborhood bridges platform. District Social Worker Samantha Cassel and SHS Coach and Streetsboro City Council member Jon Hannan will serve as area directors, overseeing post approvals and coordinating donated item pickups and distributions to families.

"Our community stands to gain so much from our new partnership with Neighborhood Bridges," said Cassel. "It's not just about meeting the needs of our families; it's about fostering a caring and compassionate community eager to uplift and support our neighbors. There are kind-hearted individuals who want to help, but they may not know the who, what, when, where, or how — and that's what we're here to change. We're working hard to bridge that gap, creating a path for anyone to contribute. By subscribing to our program, you can instantly create opportunities for kindness and connection. We're truly excited to begin this journey, linking our students and their families to the support they deserve and inspiring a spirit of unity and hope."

Two community drop-off locations will be available at Streetsboro City Hall and the Streetsboro Police Department, where donated items will be collected and delivered to schools for distribution.

Community members are encouraged to subscribe to the Neighborhood Bridges Streetsboro page and follow the program on social media to stay updated on current needs and how to help.
