Random Acts of Kindness Day: February 7, 2026
Students in American History are celebrating Black History Month through the poetry of Langston Hughes! They each chose a poem and brought it to life through illustration based on their own interpretations. Here are a few of their beautiful creations!

Student artwork illustrating the poem 'Dreams' by Langston Hughes. The handwritten poem reads 'Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow.' The illustration features a blue bird with a broken wing in the upper portion, and a barren, cracked frozen field with a bare tree branch at the bottom.
Student artwork illustrating the poem 'Letter to My Sister' by Langston Hughes. The handwritten poem is written in the upper portion of the page. The illustration at the bottom shows two silhouetted figures holding hands, set against a vibrant sunset background created with orange, yellow, pink, and purple crayon.
Student artwork illustrating the poem 'Harlem' by Langston Hughes. The title 'Harlem' is written in the upper right corner next to a bright yellow sun with an orange glow. The handwritten poem begins with 'What happens to a dream deferred?' and includes the poem's imagery of drying up, festering, stinking, and crusting over, ending with 'Or does it explode?' The illustration shows a black silhouetted figure running across dry, cracked earth with a second sun setting on the horizon.

February: Career Tech Ed month
On Wednesdays, our Kindergarten students continue to practice their math skills during “Whiteboard Wednesdays”.

Here, the children incorporate writing skills with math. In this instance, students had to write their names, count the number of letters in their name, and create an equation to show how many letters they had all together.

The students then had to compare their work and determine what letters occurred the most. This is a thinking task that helps students work cooperatively with peers while developing problem solving skills.

Our Art 1 students recently launched the year with a neurographic art project that blended creativity with intentional design. Through the use of flowing, interconnected lines, organic shapes, and watercolor techniques, students explored key elements of art and principles of design while developing visually engaging compositions.

The project encouraged experimentation with color, texture, and balance, resulting in pieces that are both expressive and thoughtfully constructed. Experiences like this highlight how our classrooms foster creativity, critical thinking, and student voice—hallmarks of the learning environment we strive to provide every day.

For every major non grant funded project, Streetsboro’s operations team reviewed initial vendor quotes and negotiated final pricing. This work resulted in significant savings across facilities, maintenance, and improvements. These project savings reduce the impact on the district’s general fund and demonstrate the value of thorough financial oversight.
